Proper Brushing Technique

Good brushing is the foundation of a healthy mouth. The video above walks through the technique we recommend at Tareen Dental — soft brush, gentle pressure, and a steady routine you can keep up every day.

Quick reference

  • Use a soft-bristle toothbrush — medium and hard bristles can wear enamel and irritate gums.
  • Brush for two full minutes, twice a day. A timer or an electric brush makes this easy.
  • Angle the bristles at 45° toward the gumline and use small circles, not long horizontal scrubs.
  • Don't forget the inside surfaces of your back teeth and the chewing surfaces of your molars.
  • Replace your toothbrush every three months, or sooner if the bristles start to splay.
