After Your Bridge

Your new bridge replaces the missing tooth and is supported by the teeth on either side. It's cemented in place and looks and feels like your own teeth — with one small change to your cleaning routine.

Quick reference

  • Wait until the numbness wears off before eating.
  • For the first 24 hours, avoid sticky and very hard foods.
  • Brush the bridge normally — but you can't pass regular floss between the bridge teeth. Use a floss threader, Super Floss, or a small interdental brush to clean under the false tooth daily.
  • Mild gum tenderness around the bridge for a few days is normal as the area heals.
  • Come in every 6 months so we can check the bridge and the supporting teeth.
Call us if you have concerns. Call us at 519-944-5757 if the bridge feels loose, you notice an odour around it, or your bite changes.
